VIFF Queer Flick o' the Day! - 108 (Cuchillo de palo)

Hey hey, smutlings! Enjoying all the excitement that the Vancouver International Film Festival has to offer? Well it's that time again for my VIFF Queer Flick o' the Day!

The movie I'm HIGHLY recommending today is the documentary 108 (Cuchillo de palo). This film follows Paraguayan filmmaker Renate Costa and her exploration into her late uncle's life. Her investigation leads her to discover that he was listed on one of the 108 known homosexuals by the former Paraguayan dictatorship and as a result was persecuted throughout his lifetime. Enthralling, powerful and personal, this documentary highlights the struggles that queer people all over the world have faced, while serving as a reminder that many LGBTTQ people are still denied basic human rights in their respective home countries.

108 (Cuchillo de palo) plays tonight, Friday Oct. 7, 7:00pm and Wednesday, Oct 13, 10;30am at Empire Granville 7. For the official film description and for tickets, click here
